In the summer of 2023 I was perusing Instagram Reels during a break from being a mama (aka nap time) when I stumbled across this beautiful greenhouse made of repurposed windows. It looked so incredibly idyllic and I sent it to my husband, because goals. It wasn’t until about a month later that I realized this gorgeous greenhouse was basically in my backyard! Only a 20 minute drive from my house in Saline, Fern and Pine lies just outside of Dexter’s downtown in the backyard of this wonderful couple. They have opened their greenhouse up for photographers to enjoy and I ended up booking a last-minute mini session there in November. The results were amazing! Here just see for yourself:
When I was there in November it was decorated for Christmas and it was beautiful, but I’ve seen photos in other seasons on the Fern and Pine Instagram account and its just as sweet. I want to go back again and again, but that’s also because I have a secret love of greenhouses. It’s a perfect location for family mini sessions. My minis are usually about 10 minutes and since it’s such a small space we can move around a lot, squeeze in many different spots, all within that short timeframe. The light is so wonderful also. It’s not super direct, but so very wonderfully bright. Not only that, but it’s protected from the elements so even if it’s raining, snowing, or super cold we won’t need to reschedule!
